History of PiraguasThe piragua is a flavored shaved ice that originated on the archipelago of Puerto Rico. Piragua isn’t just any other snow cone or cup of shaved ice. Unlike these, the piragua takes a distinctive pyramid shape. It’s eaten using a straw (or even just the mouth!), instead of with a spoon. Piraguas were introduced in New York by Puerto Ricans as early as 1926. For many Puerto Ricans, piraguas and piragueros are an important part of the island's culture. You may see piragueros in many parts of New York City, Maimi, and where there are large populations of people with hispanic heritage. They populate the streets and sidewalks with their carts and umbrellas.

History of LimbersOriginating in Puerto Rico, limber is named after the pilot Charles A. Lindbergh, who landed on the island in 1928. It's said that he was greeted with this delicious frozen juice, which came to be called limber, after how many on the island pronounced the pilot’s name.
In New York, this simple dessert may be one of the best things about summers in the Bronx. This icy treat is a favorite snack for kids but adults love them too! Our limbers are made from natural tropical juices and come in a great variety of flavors! How to eat a limber
Limber is served it in cups. You can enjoy these juicy treats by squeezing the cups, take your first lick, then turn the dessert upside-down. Using a spoon is always an option. |
